Welcome to my Homepage
I come from the beautiful and multicultural city of Chernivtsi.
As for my mother tongue, I know both Russian and Ukrainian on the same level. My profession is instructor of English as a second language as well as Russian, Ukrainian and German. From 1992 till 2001, I taught English and general linguistics at University of Chernivtsi, where I conducted various theoretical and practical courses in the English philology (lexicology, writing practice, practical translation, text analysis etc.), LSP, and sociolinguistics.
I possess a good experience in teaching foreign languages to students majoring in different subjects, such as physics, radio engineering, construction industry, economics, jurisprudence etc. Besides, I was a visiting researcher in the USA, at (St.Michael’s College in Vermont), where I investigated modern and non-traditional methods of teaching foreign/second languages.
In addition, I had a part-time job as a translator in a notary’s office as well as a tourist guide in a travelling agency, where I acquired a good experience in translating special texts from various branches as well as in communicating with people of different cultures.
During my scientific internship at University of Leipzig (Institute of Applied Linguistics and Translatology), I conducted a theoretical course in English lexicology and a practical course in bilateral interpreting. Later on, I taught a half-course in the English written communication at Ilmenau University of Technology.
